Detailed Description for Naphthenic Acid

Naphthenic acid is a complex of carboxylic acids ( different low-molecular-weight fatty acids, believed to have cyclopentane ring mainly) which is obtained as a by product of petroleum refining; with  a variable composition and ingredients; generally 180 - 350 mole wt. It is also used in dust control, wood preservative, deicing and road stabilization. Naphthenic acid and metallic naphthenates have many industrial applications in synthetic detergents, solvent additives for paint, resins, oils and varnish. They are also used as lubricants, corrosion inhibitors and fuel additives. They are used as wood preservatives, catalysts, wetting agents, insecticides, lubricating oil additive etc.
