The thermal fuses/cutoffs are widely used for security to prevent damage of device due to the rise in the ambient temperature. The sensing element of a thermal fuse is a eutectic alloy. It melts at a required fusing temperature. It actuates the switch and protects the equipment from overheating. It is one shot device and cannot be restarted.
