It is made of bakelite composite and available in black, red and grey in colors. The rated voltage and current varies from 100V, 200V, etc and 25A, 30A etc respectively. Generally it is used in domestic, industrial and automobile applications.

A Fuse cutout otherwise called as cut-out fuse is a combination of a fuse and a switch, used in primary overhanging feeder lines and taps to protect transformers from current surges and overloads. An over rated current caused by a fault in the transformer or customer circuit will create the fuse to melt, disconnecting the transformer from the line. It can also open manually by utility linemen standing on the ground and having a long insulating stick called as "hot stick".
