Detailed Description for Wipro-Mini Excavators-Hydraulic Cylinder

Hydraulic Excavators consist of a boom, dipper, bucket and house.  It moves in a linear motion with functions being accomplished by a hydraulic fluid, hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic motors.

The main parts of an excavator are:

1. Undercarriage - The undercarriage includes the blade (if attached), tracks, track frame, and final drives. Final drive has a hydraulic motor and gearing which provides the drive to the individual tracks.

2. House - the house includes the operator cab, engine, fuel, counterweight and hydraulic oil containers. The house attaches to the undercarriage by way of a center pin. And high pressure oil is provided to the hydraulic motors through a hydraulic swivel at the axis of the pin. This allows the machine to slew 360°, undisturbed. The main boom attaches to the house, and can be one of several different configurations. In mini excavators, there is a hinge at the base of the boom which allows it to pivot up to 180° which is independent to the house.

3. Boom - Attached to the end of the boom is the stick or dipper. The stick gives the digging force required to pull the bucket from the ground. The stick length is customizable depending whether longer or shorter stick is needed. Longer dipper is useful for longer reach and shorter dipper is for break-out power.

4. Bucket - On the end of the stick is usually a bucket. A wide, large capacity bucket with a straight cutting edge is used for cleaning and leveling, in cases where the material to be dug out is not too hard, and teeth are not required. A general purpose bucket is generally smaller and stronger. It has hardened side cutters and teeth to break through hard ground and rocks. For various applications buckets with various shapes and sizes are used. Also, there are other attachments available which can attached to the excavator for boring, crushing, lifting, ripping, cutting, etc.

5. Engines - Engines in hydraulic excavators usually have 3 pumps – 2 main pumps supply high pressure for the arms, track motors, swing motors, etc.

There are two kinds of "Control" configuration generally used in excavators to control the boom and bucket. The boom and bucket spread the four main digging controls between two x-y joysticks. A skilled operator can use it to control all the four functions simultaneously.

Features of the mini excavators:

1. Robust designs suitable for rough usage conditions

2. Rods, hydraulic pipes have high strength material to suit tough applications

3. Burnishing on tube ID for durable seal life

4. Finer Rod surface finishes up to 0.5Ry for durable seal life

5. High corrosion resistance for rod plating with CASS testing  with rating 9.5

6. Friction welding for rod-eye joints for durable life

7. Robotic welding for tube-flange & tube-cap

8. Smooth cushioning/dampening on both ends of cylinder stroke to absorb shocks

9. Robust sealing system with special materials for durable seal life

10. High strength piston & rod bearings to withstand higher side loads.

11. High strength Forgings for critical parts
