They are used as temporary elevators during construction of a structure.The lift mechanism is either rack & pinion or mechanical,rated loading capacity is 1ton or 2 ton,speed is 32n/min and 33m/min.The maximum lifting height is 50m to 60m.It is extensively used in the field of construction.They are also known as builder hoist or construction elevator.

Also commonly known as a Man-Lift, Buckhoist, temporary elevator, builder hoist, passenger hoist or construction elevator, this type of hoist is essentially used on large scale construction projects, such as high-rise buildings or major hospitals. There are many other applications for the construction elevator. Many other industries use the buckhoist for full-time operations, the duty being to carry and transport personnel, materials, and equipment rapidly and efficiently  between the ground and higher floors, or between floors in the middle of a building. There are three types: Utility to move material, personnel to move personnel, and dual-rated, which can perform both.

 

 

The construction hoist is made up of either single or dual cars (cages) which travel vertically along stacked mast tower sections. The mast sections are attached to the structure or hirise every 25 feet (7.62 m) for improved stability. For precisely controlled travel by the mast sections, modern construction hoists use a automated rack-and-pinion system that climbs the mast sections at various speeds.
