The Methyl Isobutyl Carbinol (MIBC), which is also represented as the 4-Methyl and 2-pentanol, is a colorless liquid and an organic chemical compound, which is mainly used as a frother in the mineral flotation. This chemical can also be used as a solvent, in organic synthesis, and to manufacture brake fluid and also used as a antecedent for plasticizers.



The Methyl Isobutyl Carbinol is slightly soluble in water and miscible with most of the organic solvents

It acts as a latent solvent for coatings in order to regulate the cure rate

It acts as a coupling solvent for waterborne coatings

It acts as a latent solvent for coatings to augment flow and leveling and reduce viscocity

This chemical is a Non-HAP (Hazardous Air Pollutant) Solvent



This chemical is a major solvent for dyes and stains
