Methyl Acrylate

Methyl acrylate is used as a main ingredient in the production of homo polymers and copolymers. This chemical can be co-polymerized with acrylic acid and its salts, esters and acrylamide, along with methacrylic acid, acrylonitrile, methacrylates, maleic acid esters, styrene, vinyl acetate, butadiene, vinyl chloride, unsaturated polyesters. It acts as one of the most important raw materials and a starting material for the production of many chemical syntheses.

Acrylate is manufactured via C3 refinery where the acid has to undergo the typical reactions and forms basic alkyl esters such as methyl, ethyl acrylate, butyl, and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate. Acrylic acid and its esters undergo the chemical reactions of a double bond that voluntarily combines with themselves or other monomers (For instance, amides, methacrylates, vinyl, styrene, acrylonitrile, and butadiene) to form homo polymers and/or co-polymers that are widely used in the production of various types of coatings, elastomers, adhesives, super absorbent polymers, flocculants, along with fibers and plastic materials.  

This chemical is a clear, volatile liquid, which is slightly soluble in water and completely soluble in alcohols, ethers and other organic solvents. This chemical consists of a double bond and functional carboxyl group, which are used as a monomer or co-monomer in making different materials such as acrylic and modacrylic fibers. This chemical is used to manufacture paints and dispersions of paints, adhesives and inks. Besides, this chemical is also used to manufacture cleaning products, amphoteric surfactants, antioxidant agents and to name a few. Methyl acrylate is also used in making vitamin B1.
