It is the most important raw material and a starting material for many chemical syntheses.

2-Ethylhexyl Acrylate is a crystal clear, water-white liquid that with a pleasant fragrance. This chemical is voluntarily miscible with most of the organic solvents. However, it does have a negligible solubility in water. The ethylhexyl acrylate consists of monomethyl ether of hydroquinone (MEHQ, CAS 150-76-5) as an inhibitor to prevent the process of polymerization when it is preserved under recommended storage conditions.


Ethylhexyl acrylate remains steady when it is preserved under the suggested storage conditions. On contrary, if the chemical is exposed to the elevated temperatures, it can cause perilous polymerization. The process of polymerization can be initiated when air is completely absent and in the presence of free radical initiators and peroxides, UV light, bases, acids, or high temperature.

Besides, it is considered in the production of co-polymers, for instance, acrylic acid and its salts, methacrylates, acrylonitrile, esters, maleates, vinyl acetate, amides, vinyl chloride, styrene, butadiene, vinylidene chloride, and unsaturated polyesters. This chemical is also used in the production of the pressure sensitive adhesives. This chemical is used in latex paint formulations since the acrylic polymers have good water resistance, sunlight resistance, low temperature flexibility and excellent weathering.

The standard inhibitor level is 15 ppm(Pound per minute) Monomethyl Ether of HydroQuinone (MEHQ) With this inhibitor, the product should be stored at a temperature less than 25 °C and it should be kept away from light. Storing it under air atmosphere maintains the inhibitor effectiveness for long time because of the presence of oxygen in it.
