Detailed Description for PIPERONYL ACETATE

Piperonyl Acetate

Piperonyl Acetate, which is also known as Sassafras oil was previously used in various household fragrance applications including polishes, soaps, floor waxes, detergents and many other popular cleaning agents. The potential of this oil to blend with other oils and its robust masking properties made this oil as the most valuable ingredient used for various purposes. However, in the recent times, the industries are using this as a raw material for the segregation of safrole.

The Piperonyl Acetate is converted into two significant derivatives i.e.  Heliotropin one of the most widely used materials to manufacture fragrance aka scent and flavoring agent. Another significant derivative of Piperonyl Acetate is Piperonyl Butoxide (PBO), one of the most important ingredients used in pyrethroid insecticides. It is impossible to prepare an economical insecticide without adding PBO as the natural pyrethrum doesn’t support it. It is a known fact the future of natural pyrethrum industry is totally connected with the constant supply of PBO

It is a known fact that Heliotropin, an extract of Piperonyl Acetate has been used from decades to manufacture perfumes and soaps. Heliotropin, a naturally occurring aromatic biochemical is gained from various botanical sources such as Cinamomum petrophilum and Sassafras albidum.
