Carmoisine

Carmoisine is a synthetic red food coloring dye from azo dye group. Its apperance will be like red to maroon powder which usually comes as a disodium salt. Its has a melting point with 572 °F(>300 °C) which is also soluble in water. Carmoisine is also called as Azorubine, Food Red 3, Azorubin S, Brillantcarmoisin O, Acid Red 14, or C.I. 14720.

Detailed Description for Carmoisine

 

CARMOISINE is a synthetic red food dye which is from azo dye group used for coloring food, cosmetics, medications, paints, inks, plastics, leather and to all kind of natural fibres( wool, cotton and silk as well as to synthetics like polyesters, acrylic and rayon).

Carmoisine is soluble in water which has a melting point >300°C.  Carmoisine shown no evidence of mutagenic or carcinogenic properties so WHO allows (ADI) 0–4 mg/kg as a daily intake in food products. they are not substantive to cellulosic fibres.

Other names of Carmoisine are :Azorubine, Food Red 3, Azorubin S, Brillantcarmoisin O, Acid Red 14, or C.I. 14720. It has E number E122.
