Tobias acid is also known as 2-Amino-1-naphthalene Sulfonic acid.Tobias acid is produced from naphthalene by a combination of sulfonation, nitration, reduction, and hydrolysis.

Naphthalene is main ingrediant for traditional mothballs.Most of the naphthalene is derived from coal tar,typically coal tar is about 10% of napthalene.

Other names: 2-Naphthylamine-1-sulfonic acid; 2-Aminonaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid .
