A magnetic mixer also known as magnetic stir bar is a laboratory device consists of a rotating magnetic field to cause a stir bar (also called "flea") to spin very quickly immersed in a liquid, thus stirring it. The speed is 100,500,1400 rpm with the stirring capacity of 20, 500, 3000 mi and maximum loading capacity can be either 2000 or 2200 ml. Various color options available are blue, grey and red.

Detailed Description for Magnetic Stirrer

A magnetic stirrer or mixer is a device that employs a rotating magnetic field to cause a stir bar immersed in a liquid to spin quickly. The rotating field may be created either by a rotating magnet or a set of stationary electromagnets with in the liquid.Magnetic stir bars work well in glass vessels commonly used for chemical reactions, as glass does not affect a magnetic field.

Magnetic stirrers are often used in chemistry and biology, where they can be used inside closed vessels without the need for complicated rotary seals. They are preferred over gear-driven motorized stirrer because they are more efficient, and have no moving external parts . Stir bars also have difficulty in dealing with viscous liquids  For larger volumes or more viscous liquids, some sort of mechanical stirring is typically needed. The limited size of the bar means that magnetic stirrers can only be used for relatively small experiments, of 4 liters. 

Because of its small size, a stirring bar is more easily cleaned and sterilized than other stirring devices. They do not require lubricant which could contaminate the reaction vessel and the product. Magnetic stirrers may also include a hot plate for heating the liquid.
